36" 24" 36", only if you not me

i measured myself this week, pretty scary. but one good thing is that i have been counting calories and it seems to be going pretty well for me. so far the counting calories has been the most obvious change i've made. it feels good to actually see results after four full weeks. i'm starting my fifth week with the hope of going to the gym four days this week. last week i went three times and that's good for me, my husband has been encouraging me to go more often. the beginning of this week has been slow because i got sick for a day and just wasn't going to be able to make it to the gym, but i did walk around all day yesterday at Disneyland. that counts for something right?

Because one of the things that I am really good at is giving totally unsolicited advice and occasionally pointing out things that I have observed during my 28 years of life, please enjoy (or forgive) the following;

The tendency when counting calories is to first count everything, then start reducing what you eat with a focus on the fattiest foods (makes sense - they are high calorie). This is great. The next step is to try to radically change your diet. This is not so great. Although you may want to eventually change what you eat, there are some intermediate steps to reduce calories that are much easier that will help you reach your goal. Two quick ones: when cooking, use olive oil as a substitute for cooking oil or butter (its at least good fat and is lower cal), and if you are eating oatmeal for breakfast, switch to a 9-Grain hot ceral (sold in bulk at Henry's for $0.59/lb) add some frozen blueberries, bananas, ground flaxseed, and a bit of honey. It will keep you full longer and is better for you.

Keep up the good work!!!
